Ensuring Mobility Rights through Technology… Mobility Conference Held for Two Days in Seoul

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced that the 2025 Global Mobility Conference will be held for two days starting from the 9th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul. The event, co-hosted with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and the OECD International Transport Forum, will be attended by domestic and international mobility companies, experts, and international organizations. The conference aims to discuss the role of mobility in reducing social disparities and the growth opportunities brought by technology. This year’s theme is “Creating the Future Together: Unlocking New Possibilities through Innovation.”

On the first day, the opening ceremony will feature keynote speeches by Dmitry Mariyasin, Deputy Executive Secretary of UNECE, and Song Chang-hyun, Head of Hyundai Motor’s Autonomous Vehicle Platform Division. The main sessions will include participation from Michelle Wucker, a professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Gabriella Martinez, a researcher at MIT Media Lab. Representatives from Chinese electric vehicle company BYD and urban air mobility company Joby Aviation will also attend.

The second day will include a session by East Asian mobility research institutions, discussing research trends and collaboration plans among Korea, China, and Japan. There is also a scheduled session with the United Nations ESCAP and International Transport Forum. Branch sessions will be held by Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Konkuk University’s Mobility Humanities Research Institute, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Korean Society of Transportation.

Kang Hee-up, the Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, stated, “Future mobility is a key infrastructure affecting the quality of life for citizens. Beyond a simple means of transport, it can become a tool to eliminate regional mobility gaps and ensure the fundamental right to movement. It is necessary to strengthen policies to achieve this.” He added, “This conference will serve as an opportunity to share our innovation strategies with the world and to lay a foundation for global cooperation.”
