**Delivery Platform Incident Handling Task Force to Begin Activities on the 12th**
The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has established a dedicated task force (TF) to expedite the handling of incidents related to delivery platforms. The TF will operate under the supervision of the Investigation Management Officer, working in close collaboration with the Economic Analysis Department.
The FTC announced that the TF would start its activities on the 12th. Previously, without a dedicated department for platform-related incidents, investigations into delivery platform-related cases were handled individually by various departments. However, it has been challenging to comprehensively assess the impact of problematic actions in individual cases on the delivery platform market as a whole due to the segmented nature of the organizational structure.
Moreover, as additional complaints and numerous new unfair practice issues have been reported, the scope of investigations has expanded. This has necessitated a revamp of the response system to comprehensively review these incidents from the perspective of the entire delivery platform market.
To address this, the FTC decided to activate the TF to concentrate its investigation capabilities on quickly handling these incidents. The TF consists of a newly established dedicated incident handling team and a cooperative system with the Economic Analysis Department. The incident handling team will be led by the Director of the Service Industry Surveillance and will include one deputy director and five officers from the Market Surveillance Bureau. They will solely focus on handling delivery platform incidents. The Economic Analysis Department will conduct economic analyses on major unfair practices alongside the incident handling team.
A spokesperson from the FTC stated, “The TF will be responsible for exclusively handling complaints and incidents related to delivery platforms. It will also manage applications for consent orders, facilitate discussions with the businesses involved about specific issues, and gather input from stakeholders.”
