CU’s ‘Visit Courier Service’ sees a 447% surge in usage in just five months since launch.

CU is conducting a special discount promotion for its ‘visit courier service’ this month.

CU, the only convenience store in the industry offering this visit courier service, announced on the 17th that its usage rate is significantly increasing.

Unlike the traditional method where customers needed to visit a convenience store to send packages, the CU visit courier service has couriers collect and transport packages directly from the sender’s location. Launched in October last year, the service surpassed 5,000 uses within just two weeks, and last month, the average daily usage increased by 447% compared to its initial launch. The current accumulated sales of the service exceed 100 million KRW.

A CU representative explained that the reason CU’s visit courier service is well-received is that it precisely caters to the hidden demand of one- to two-person households who find it difficult to personally send packages during weekdays and daytime, by offering a pickup approach.

The primary users of the visit courier service are in their 20s and 30s, with single or dual-person households making up 78% of all users.

The service’s advantages include allowing customers to schedule pickup times themselves, and if the request is submitted before 6 AM, same-day pickup is available, greatly enhancing convenience and speed.

Due to the increasing popularity of the visit courier service, CU will be conducting a special discount promotion this month to strengthen customer benefits. CU plans to offer discounts on all package sizes across the board for customers using the visit courier service through Lotte Courier or Hanjin Courier. Items weighing less than 5 kg will have a flat fee of 4,300 KRW, discounted by up to 200 KRW, while items between 5 kg and 20 kg will start at 4,900 KRW.

Furthermore, CU intends to expand customer options by adding CJ Logistics to the existing providers, Lotte Courier and Hanjin Courier, this month.

BGF Networks CEO Yeon Jeong-wook commented, “CU will continue to upgrade the quality of its courier services, thereby expanding its role as a lifestyle platform that enhances customer convenience.”
