3,100 SK Innovation employees dedicate their efforts to intensive volunteer work for two weeks

SK Innovation announced that more than 3,000 members voluntarily participated in a dedicated volunteer week focused on supporting marginalized neighbors and coexisting with the local community. From the 21st of last month for two weeks, employees from SK Innovation and its eight subsidiaries, including SK Energy, SK Geocentric, and SK On, engaged in volunteer activities such as free meal services, caring for individuals with developmental disabilities and elderly living alone, environmental protection, and blood donation as part of their Volunteer Week.

During this period, a total of 3,100 employees from SK Innovation’s group participated, dedicating a total of 11,000 volunteer hours. Earlier this year, during the first half’s two-week volunteer week, 2,800 members recorded 6,900 hours of volunteer work. This year alone, 5,900 participant volunteers have been involved in the volunteer weeks.

Notably, this Volunteer Week included new activities such as making e-books for the visually impaired and collecting used plastic bottle caps, which attracted participation from about 800 members.

Executives of SK Innovation also actively participated in this Volunteer Week. Park Sang-kyu, president of SK Innovation, joined with 60 members for blood donation. Myung Seong, president of SK Earthon, participated in volunteer activities with elderly living alone, and Kim Won-ki, president of SK Enmove, engaged in environmental protection activities.

An SK Innovation representative stated, “Many members expressed happiness from being able to look after and care for our neighbors in need through activities such as sports with individuals with developmental disabilities, caring for elderly living alone, and creating e-books for the visually impaired.”

SK Innovation has been pursuing corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities this year with goals including coexistence with local communities, a sustainable environment, and creative solutions to social issues. The ‘1% Happiness Sharing Fund’, created by saving 1% of base salaries from SK Innovation group members since 2017, was used this year for projects such as fulfilling wishes of children with incurable illnesses, supporting young people preparing for independence, supporting children in family care, and building libraries in community child centers.

An SK Innovation representative also stated, “SK Innovation will continue to contribute to building a sustainable society that can thrive together with our neighbors and communities.”
