Three Chinese individuals have been handed over to the prosecution for murdering a Chinese compatriot at a hotel in Jeju City.
On the 5th, Jeju Seobu Police Station announced that they had arrested and transferred three Chinese nationals, including a woman in her 30s identified as A, on charges of robbery and murder.
A and the others are suspected of stabbing and killing a Chinese man in his 30s, referred to as B, in a hotel room in Jeju City around 2:40 PM on the 24th of the previous month. They allegedly stole 85 million won in cash and casino chips from him after agreeing to a cryptocurrency exchange deal.
The police suspect that the main perpetrator, A, conspired with her accomplices to deceive the victim into thinking they were going to carry out an exchange transaction as a way to repay her debts, and then committed the crime intentionally.
Earlier on the day of the incident, around 5:10 PM, a friend of the victim reported to the police, saying, “My friend, who went to the hotel to buy cryptocurrency, is not answering, which is strange. It seems something is wrong.”
After the crime, A turned herself in at Seongsan Police Station in Seogwipo City and was urgently arrested by the police. The other two accomplices were caught at the departure hall of Jeju International Airport. A 60-year-old Chinese man, who was investigated without detention, was not prosecuted as there was no evidence of his involvement.
