The special investigation team of the prosecution, which is investigating the state of emergency martial law case, has requested an arrest warrant for Lee Jin-woo, Commander of the Capital Defense Command.
Commander Lee is facing charges of rebellion and abuse of power for actions such as deploying martial law troops to the National Assembly immediately after the imposition of martial law. He was arrested by the prosecution after failing to comply with summons for questioning, and now faces the possibility of detention.
The prosecution has also applied for a warrant for Kwak Jong-geun, the Army Special Warfare Command leader, who deployed the 707th Special Mission Group to the National Assembly.
Both individuals are scheduled to undergo a warrant review at the Central Military Court tomorrow (16th).
If the prosecution secures the arrests of Commander Kwak and Commander Lee, following the already detained Yeon Hyeong, Commander of the Defense Security Command, the investigation into the three central figures of the martial law situation is expected to gain momentum.
