A group involved in smuggling methamphetamine from overseas and distributing it to entertainment establishments exclusively for foreigners has been caught by the police. The Changwon Jungbu Police Station in Gyeongnam has apprehended 13 individuals, including two men in their 20s who were responsible for the smuggling, and has detained six of them.
According to the police, the smugglers imported 2.5 kg of methamphetamine from the United States in September. They hid the drugs in mountainous areas and coastal regions of Busan and Gyeongnam and then handed them over to distributors. These distributors sold the methamphetamine to foreigners and used it together with them at entertainment establishments in places like Changwon and Jinju.
The police have detained six individuals, including the smugglers and distributors, and are expanding their investigation to track down users. They have found and confiscated 1.7 kg of methamphetamine, with a street value of approximately 5.6 billion KRW, that was hidden in a mountain.
