Seoul City Provides Free Electric Motorcycles to Small Business Owners
“Eco-friendly Delivery Vehicle”···1,000 Units Supported
The Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise (KFME), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Seoul Metropolitan Government, LG Energy Solution, Dongdaemun District, Jongno District, Daedong Mobility, and KR Motors, is providing free electric motorcycles to small business owners.
On the 7th, KFME signed a business agreement at Seoul City Hall to support the distribution of electric motorcycles to small businesses and create a safe usage environment. Through this agreement, small business owners will be able to purchase electric motorcycles valued between 3.9 million to 5.2 million Korean won for free. This is made possible by the purchase subsidies from the Ministry of Environment and Seoul City, manufacturer discounts from Daedong Mobility and KR Motors, and support from LG Energy Solution, reducing the cost to zero for small business owners.
Dongdaemun and Jongno districts will support the initiative by providing educational facilities and utilizing public sites for establishing KS standard battery charging stations. KFME is actively promoting this support project among its members to ensure more small business owners benefit from it. Through this agreement, a total of 1,000 electric motorcycles will be distributed to small business owners in Seoul, with 400 units being provided this year as part of a pilot project.
Song Chi-young, the president of KFME, stated, “Electric motorcycles are gaining attention as eco-friendly delivery vehicles with no noise or emissions, but their relatively high cost has posed a barrier for small business owners.” He expressed his hope that the electric motorcycles being provided will become a reliable resource, leading to the growth and advancement of small business owners in Seoul.
