The Gwangju History and Folk Museum will hold a ‘Seol Celebration Event’ on the 29th and 30th.

Gwangju History & Folklore Museum is hosting a variety of sharing and experience events on the first floor lobby and special exhibition hall for the Lunar New Year holiday.

The museum announced that it will hold the ‘Seol Holiday Festival’ on January 29-30 in celebration of the Lunar New Year. The event will feature various sharing and experience activities, such as making hanbok capes and traditional folk game experiences.

The sharing event will take place from 1 PM to 5 PM in the museum’s lobby and permanent exhibition hall. Participants who find the hidden blue snake in the exhibition hall while wearing a hanbok and post a verification photo on social media with a hashtag will receive a coloring book, limited to the first 200 visitors.

On the 29th, from 1 PM to 3 PM, there will be a calligraphy family motto writing experience in the lobby, aimed at strengthening family bonds. Additionally, from 1 PM to 5 PM on both days, a “New Year’s Card Decoration” program will allow visitors to send personalized greetings to family, friends, and partners.

In the special exhibition hall, various making experience programs will cater to family visitors. At 2 PM each day, there will be programs for making traditional games like spinning tops and arrow throwing, and at 3 PM, programs for creating traditional costumes and wish lanterns.

Participation in the making experiences is available through onsite registration starting at 1 PM each day, with a material cost of 1,000 KRW. The museum’s outdoor yard will also offer folk game experiences throughout the event, including hoop rolling, ring toss, arrow throwing, yutnori, and jegichagi, which are difficult to encounter in daily life.

Director Lim Chan-hyeok stated, “We have prepared various sharing and experience programs to offer citizens the new challenges and growth energy symbolized by the blue snake. We hope the museum outing during the Seol holiday will be a time to fill with hope.”
