Suspect in Pizza Shop Knife Attack Completes Surgery… Police Plan to File Murder Charges (Comprehensive Report)

A 40-year-old man, after committing a crime, attempted self-harm and is currently in serious condition. After surgery, he is being treated in the intensive care unit. The police are monitoring the suspect to prevent further self-harm and plan to take him into custody upon discharge and apply for an arrest warrant on charges of murder.

On the 3rd, at a franchise pizza shop in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, a franchise owner wielded a weapon, resulting in the deaths of three people, including an employee from the head office. The police revealed that the suspect, identified as Mr. A, is recovering after surgery from self-inflicted injuries.

Mr. A reportedly attacked three individuals with a knife at his pizza shop in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu. The victims included Mr. B, an executive from the head office, and Mr. C and Mr. D, an interior contractor and an interior designer, respectively, who were identified as father and daughter. All of the victims have died.

According to a police official, Mr. A has confessed to his crime, admitting that he attacked the victims with the knife due to a conflict over the shop’s interior before business hours. The head office of the pizza franchise issued a statement noting that they had maintained a very amicable relationship with Mr. A since the store opened, emphasizing that the conflict arose over issues of paid and unpaid repairs with the interior company.

Regarding allegations of “head office abuse,” the company clarified that since its franchise operations began, it had never forced any owner to undergo renovation or imposed any interior requirements. The company’s website is currently inaccessible. The police are investigating whether business disputes contributed to the incident and are working to determine the precise cause and details of the case.
