(Sejong = Yonhap News) Reporter Han Jong-gu = Sejong City announced on the 1st that it will implement a seasonal management system to strengthen fine dust management until March next year.
During the seasonal management period, the city will strengthen response policies by protecting citizen health, reducing and managing key emission sources in the industrial and transportation sectors, and providing information on fine dust.
During this period, vehicles with a Grade 5 emission rating will be restricted from operating between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays (excluding weekends and holidays) through an unmanned monitoring system, and a fine of 100,000 won will be imposed for violations.
However, considering the difficult economic situation, vehicles that have applied for low-pollution measures, those unable to install emission reduction devices, commercial vehicles, and vehicles owned by basic welfare recipients and low-income groups will be exempt from monitoring.
Hwang Jin-seo, head of Sejong City’s Environmental Policy Division, said, “We ask owners of old diesel vehicles to participate in early disposal and installation of emission reduction devices,” adding, “The city will spare no administrative support to solve the fine dust problem.”
