“Save on electricity bills for small and medium-sized enterprises and apartments with the ‘Gyeonggi Climate Platform.'”

(Suwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Chan-heung: The Gyeonggi Province government announced on the 6th that it is offering a customized energy-saving service to reduce electricity bills by analyzing power waste factors for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and apartment buildings within the province. This service is available through the “Gyeonggi Climate Platform” (climate.gg.go.kr).

For SMEs, the service analyzes real-time energy flows by retrieving power usage data in 15-minute intervals from Korea Electric Power Corporation. Based on this analysis, it disperses power usage during peak times and automatically recommends the most advantageous pricing plan and contracted power for the company’s consumption pattern. It also assesses the feasibility of introducing an energy storage system (ESS) to avoid unnecessary basic and progressive charges.

The service also addresses the issue of common electricity charges in apartment complexes, which are often the main cause of high management fees. It compares energy consumption status of each apartment complex with similar nearby complexes to identify waste factors, such as entering the third phase of the progressive tariff system (exceeding 400kWh). It then provides strategies and practical guides for reducing common electricity usage, thereby lowering management fees effectively.

Additionally, the platform includes a simulation feature for “green remodeling,” which involves improving building insulation, windows, and equipment to maximize energy efficiency, allowing users to see potential outcomes.

Byeon Sang-gi, Chief of Gyeonggi Province’s Climate and Environment Policy Division, stated, “In order to effectively respond to rising energy costs due to instability in the Middle East and the climate crisis, a systematic data analysis rather than vague conservation is essential. We hope that many residents and businesses in Gyeonggi Province will actively utilize the Gyeonggi Climate Platform to experience the dual benefits of reducing unnecessary energy costs while participating in carbon neutrality.”
