Daejeon, Once Again Proves Itself as the ‘Capital of Esports’

**Daejeon Secures Exclusive Hosting of ‘Eternal Return’ and PMPS 2026 Pro Regular Season**

Daejeon City has successfully secured the exclusive hosting rights for the 2026 pro regular seasons of ‘Eternal Return’ and ‘PUBG Mobile,’ further establishing itself as the “capital of esports.” Following its success in hosting the ‘2026 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI),’ Daejeon now adds these two popular games to its lineup.

Both ‘Eternal Return’ and ‘PUBG Mobile’ are rapidly growing popular games in Korea. ‘Eternal Return’ won the popular game award at the 2021 Korea Game Awards, and ‘PUBG Mobile’ is being strategically developed by the Korean game company Krafton. It was recently selected as an official event for the esports category at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, demonstrating its global competitiveness.

The ‘Eternal Return’ season consists of four events, while ‘PMPS’ will have three. Notably, in July, Daejeon will host the ‘2026 MSI’ finals alongside the ‘Eternal Return 3rd Anniversary Festival,’ transforming the city into a “summer esports festival.”

Park Seung-won, Director of Culture, Arts, and Tourism in Daejeon, emphasized the importance of esports as a future core content that combines industry and culture. The city aims to continue attracting tournaments and fostering the related industry ecosystem and infrastructure to establish Daejeon as Korea’s representative esports hub.
