Around 100 Filipinos who entered Korea for the foreign caregiver pilot program have been reported to have not received their wages.
The National Federation of Democratic Labor Unions released a statement today claiming that wages that should have been paid on the 20th of last month to the Filipino caregivers by caregiving service providers under labor contracts are overdue.
The NFDLU criticized the Seoul Metropolitan Government for claiming that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor for shifting responsibility by citing liquidity issues in the companies.
They further called on the government and the Seoul Metropolitan Government to promptly resolve the issue and establish a rights verification committee to ensure the rights of caregivers.
