On the 3rd, Vice Minister Kwon visited a construction site in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where he checked the implementation of key measures to protect the lives and health of workers working in the heat, specifically the ‘Five Basic Heat Safety Rules.’
The Five Basic Heat Safety Rules include: ▲cool water ▲cooling equipment ▲rest ▲cool gear ▲emergency call to 119.
Vice Minister Kwon, who was appointed on the 27th of last month, chose to visit a construction site as his first on-site activity to directly ensure that heat safety measures are being properly implemented.
He also held a meeting with on-site personnel, urging them to make every effort to prevent heat-related occupational accidents, emphasizing that this June’s average temperature was higher than last year’s record-breaking heat.
The Ministry of Labor has been operating ‘special heat safety measures teams’ at local offices since May 30 and ran a voluntary improvement period for heat safety risk factors. Since the 23rd of last month, they have been focusing on guiding and supervising high-risk workplaces.
