An event where participants ride bicycles over a 77km course connecting Busan’s representative bridges, including the Gwangan Bridge, is set to take place in September.

Busan City announced that it would host a kickoff meeting for the ‘2025 Seven Bridge Tour’ project in the city hall conference room on the afternoon of the 4th.

The ‘Seven Bridge Tour’, scheduled from 7 AM to 11 AM on September 21, is a non-competitive cycling event. It connects four of Busan’s iconic maritime bridges, two underground passages, and one tunnel into a circuit. The event offers participants a unique experience of cycling over areas typically inaccessible to the public, such as vehicle-only maritime bridges, providing views of Busan’s sea, city, mountains, and rivers.

The course will start at BEXCO, go through Gwangan Bridge, Sinsundae Underpass, Busan Harbor Bridge, Namhang Bridge, Cheonma Tunnel, Jangpyeong Underpass, and Eulsukdo Bridge, turning back at Maekdo Ecological Park to return to Gwangan Bridge, totaling 77km. Traffic will be fully controlled on this route during the event.

The event will feature free access to the top deck of Gwangan Bridge, a parade, BMX performances, and gourmet events linked to ‘Festival Sio’. There will be food trucks with Michelin-starred chefs and special programs for 1,500 pre-registered foreign tourists. Around BEXCO, visitors can enjoy bike repair workshops, bicycle safety campaigns, and a children’s bicycle safety class.

Tickets will be available for early bird purchase starting on the 16th, with regular sales beginning on the 22nd. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be used for event operations and safety facilities.

This year, the city will focus on four maritime bridges, with plans to gradually expand the course and included bridges in the future. The ‘Seven Bridges’ designated by Busan City include the Gwangan Bridge, Busan Harbor Bridge, Namhang Bridge, and Eulsukdo Bridge, along with the Gadeok, Shinho, and Yeongdo Bridges.

The briefing will include various stakeholders such as city officials, Busan Metropolitan Police, Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, Busan Sports Council, Busan Bicycle Federation, university professors, and local bicycle clubs, who will discuss the event’s basic plan, traffic control, and safety measures.

Lee Jun-seung, the Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, stated, “The ‘Seven Bridge Tour’ is not just a sports event but a unique content exclusive to the maritime city of Busan,” adding that “We hope it revitalizes residents’ daily lives and becomes a valuable city brand asset attracting global attention.”
