On the 11th, YouTube channel ‘Pisik University’ uploaded a video titled ‘We’ve Arrived in Yeongyang, the Smallest City in Gyeongsang Province’ as part of the Made in Gyeongsang-do series. The channel has since apologized and made the video private after facing controversy just a week after its release.

Pisik University issued an apology on the YouTube community on the night of the 18th, stating, “We apologize for ‘Made in Gyeongsang-do, Yeongyang, Gyeongsang Province’.” They acknowledged the importance of a prompt apology but felt that delivering a sincere apology directly to the parties involved was their first priority. They expressed concern about the lack of sincerity in their initial apology, leading them to post a formal apology today.

The channel admitted that they did not deeply consider the potential negative impact on the local area and used excessive expressions for entertainment purposes. They took full responsibility and expressed their sincere apologies without making excuses.

In the controversial video, the cast visited various businesses in Yeongyang, making derogatory comments about the local area and its offerings. The video received criticism from viewers who found it uncomfortable, leading to a decrease in subscribers from 318,000 to 310,000. Pisik University has reached out to the affected businesses to offer apologies and assistance, promising to reassess their social responsibility in light of this incident.
