One more body was recovered from the boiler tower collapse accident at the Ulsan Power Plant, bringing the total number of fatalities from this accident to six.

On the 13th, the Ulsan Fire Department announced that at around 1:18 a.m., the body of a man in his 30s was recovered from the debris of the collapsed Unit 5 tower.

Although the location of this man was determined shortly after the accident, it took time to reach him because he was located inside 4-5 meters of collapsed steel structures.

The fire department, along with civilian demolition experts, started dismantling the steel structures overnight and recovered the man’s body.

The man was reportedly engaged in a ‘pre-weaken’ operation, which involves cutting and weakening columns in preparation for controlled demolition, at the 25-meter point of the Unit 5 boiler tower, when the accident occurred.

Of the seven individuals trapped in this accident, the official death toll has risen to six. The deceased include three men in their 60s, two in their 40s, and one in his 30s. One person remains trapped at the site, with their location still unidentified.

Authorities have accelerated the search for those trapped after completing the demolition of Unit 4 and Unit 6 towers, which had been hindrances in the search effort, at noon on the 11th.

Earlier, on November 6th, at approximately 2:02 p.m., the 63-meter-tall Unit 5 boiler tower at the Ulsan Power Plant collapsed. Of the nine workers present at the site at the time, seven were trapped.
