Actor Yoo Ah-In (38, real name Um Hong-sik), who is currently on trial for drug use allegations, has been accused of sexually assaulting a man in his 30s.
According to the police today (26th), Yongsan Police Station in Seoul received a report accusing Yoo of the sexual assault and has launched an investigation. Under current law, in cases where a same-sex individual commits sexual assault, similar rape charges apply.
The report alleges that the accuser, referred to as A, was sexually assaulted by Yoo while sleeping at an officetel in Yongsan-gu on the 14th of last month. The officetel is not the residence of either A or Yoo, and it was reported that there were other men present at the scene at the time.
The police will conduct an investigation into the accuser while planning to summon Yoo for questioning regarding the related allegations.
Yoo’s legal representative, Attorney Bang Jeong-hyeon, refuted the accusation, stating, “The claims made in the report regarding Yoo Ah-In are not true,” and asked for restraint in unnecessary speculations related to his private life.
Meanwhile, Yoo has been on trial for habitual use of medical drugs like propofol under the guise of cosmetic anesthesia at hospitals in Seoul from September 2020 to March 2022, having been sentenced to 4 years in prison in a trial held on the 24th by the prosecution.
