The police have applied for an arrest warrant for an unlicensed driver who caused a seven-car pileup in the middle of Gangnam, Seoul.
The Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced today (the 3rd) that they have applied for an arrest warrant for a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, under charges of hit-and-run causing injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, violation of the Road Traffic Act (unlicensed driving), and violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.
Ms. A is accused of crashing into seven vehicles in succession and driving in the wrong direction on Teheran-ro towards Gangnam Station Exit 12 at around 1:40 PM yesterday (the 2nd) near the Kukkiwon Intersection in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu.
This accident resulted in nine people sustaining minor injuries.
Prior to this accident, at around 1 PM, Ms. A reportedly hit and fled from a woman in her 30s who was pushing a stroller with a child along a residential road in Songpa-gu.
Ms. A was arrested at the scene without a license but was not under the influence of alcohol, and a rapid drug test returned negative results.
During the police investigation, Ms. A stated that she had taken a sedative.
The police have requested the National Forensic Service to analyze Ms. A’s blood and drug components.
