Warren Buffett: “I don’t support any specific political candidate… Beware of false posts on social media”

Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, expressed concerns on the 23rd local time about social networking service (SNS) posts impersonating him to recommend investment products or support certain political candidates.

Berkshire Hathaway stated in a statement released on its website that with the increase in SNS usage, there are false claims that Buffett is recommending investment products or endorsing and supporting political candidates.

The statement emphasized that Buffett does not, and will not in the future, engage in recommending investment products or supporting political candidates.

Buffett’s statement was prompted by the discovery of fake political endorsement declarations using his image circulating on Instagram, according to CNBC.

This stance from Buffett comes as the Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris and the Republican candidate former President Donald Trump are in a tight race ahead of the early November election.

As the presidential election day approaches, attention is also focused on which candidates are supported by prominent figures in the economic and financial sectors.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is actively supporting Trump in this election campaign.

Meanwhile, Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, who has kept a distance from political donations, reportedly made a large donation to a Democratic Super PAC supporting Vice President Harris, according to the New York Times.

The NYT also reported that Jamie Dimon, chairman of JPMorgan Chase, known as the “Emperor of Wall Street,” has not publicly disclosed his support for a U.S. presidential candidate, but has privately clarified his support for Vice President Harris, citing three anonymous colleagues.
