– 코로나19 KP.2 variant-effective new vaccine has passed the review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
– The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 22nd local time that the FDA approved new COVID-19 vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer.
– As a result, the new vaccine can be administered to individuals from infants aged 6 months to adults.
– Experts emphasized the need for vaccination, especially for elderly individuals who skipped additional COVID-19 vaccine doses.
– According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the U.S., despite the recommendation for additional COVID-19 vaccine doses last year, the majority of Americans did not receive them.
– Among adults, only 22.5%, and among children, only 14.4% completed additional doses.
– The CDC recommended getting the additional doses by the end of October.
– Until last winter, the dominant strain in the U.S. was the JN.1 variant, but recently, the KP.3 and KP.2 variants account for over half of infections.
