Ukraine Allows Men Aged 18-22 to Leave the Country

During martial law, Ukraine partially lifted the travel ban for men aged 18 to 60. On the 26th (local time), it was reported that Ukraine has allowed men aged 18 to 22 to leave the country. In a photo dated the 19th, new recruits aged 18 to 24, part of the Ukrainian army’s 127th brigade, are seen undergoing military training near Kharkiv.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced via Telegram that men aged 18 to 22 can cross the border without restrictions during martial law. This policy applies to all citizens within this age range.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has generally prohibited men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country, with some exceptions. Men aged 25 to 60 may be conscripted into the military.

On the 12th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the cabinet to ease border crossing regulations for men in this age group. A bill allowing their border passage was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) on the 22nd.
