Trump Reiterates Trade Negotiations with China: “Discussed Again This Morning”

**Title: Despite China’s Denial, “Negotiations Ongoing” Stance Reiterated**

On the 24th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that trade negotiations with China were ongoing, despite Chinese denials. During a luncheon meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre at the White House in Washington, D.C., Trump responded to a journalist’s question, saying, “They had a meeting this morning” when asked to confirm who from China was discussing trade with the U.S., despite China’s denial of such talks.

He added, “It doesn’t matter who they (the meeting attendees) are,” emphasizing that while details might need to be disclosed later, there was indeed a meeting held that morning, further saying meetings with China had been ongoing.

The previous day, when asked about direct contact with China, President Trump replied with “every day.”

In response, Guo Xukun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denied the claims during a regular briefing, labeling reports suggesting ongoing U.S.-China trade negotiations, potentially leading to an agreement, as “false news.”

Spokesperson Guo stated, “The U.S. and China have not started negotiations on the tariff issue, and reaching an agreement is even further from the truth.”
