On Veterans Day in the United States, November 11th (local time), President-elect Donald Trump expressed his respect for veterans. On the morning of that day, Trump posted a brief message on his Truth Social account saying “Happy Veterans Day” along with a salute photo set against the backdrop of the Stars and Stripes. However, he did not post any additional message on social media.
His wife, Melania Trump, also took to X (formerly Twitter) to post, “Today we honor and pay tribute to all the veterans who bravely served our country. Your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication inspire us all.”
JD Vance, Vice President-elect and a former Marine, also expressed his gratitude on X by stating, “Thank you to all the veterans who wore the nation’s uniform. The greatest resource in our nation blessed with immense natural resources might be the millions willing to serve in uniform.”
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden attended the Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery alongside Vice President Kamala Harris. This marked the first time Vice President Harris joined President Biden in a public event following the election defeat. After laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, President Biden remarked in his address, “It is my last time standing here at Arlington as Commander-in-Chief,” saying, “Serving, caring for, and leading you has been the greatest honor of my life.”
He continued, “Today, at this place, we reflect on what all veterans have given to America. Now is the time to uphold trust in each other and unite as a nation.” He added, “The world relies on you individuals and all of us to continue safeguarding everything they fought for and to heal America’s wounds.”
