Trump Introduces Hassett, Economic Chairman, as a “Potential Fed Chairman”

\nPresident Donald Trump has introduced Kevin Hassett, the Chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, as a strong candidate for the next Chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve.\n\nOn the 2nd, local time, at an event held at the White House to announce a donation by Michael Dell, founder and CEO of the U.S. computer manufacturer Dell Technologies, President Trump referred to Chairman Hassett as a “potential Fed Chair.”\n\nPresident Trump continued, saying, “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but he’s a potential candidate,” adding, “What I can say is that he is a respected person.”\n\nChairman Hassett also mentioned in a Fox News interview on the 30th of last month that he would be willing to serve if President Trump nominated him as Fed Chair.\n\nPresident Trump has been overtly critical of the current Fed Chair Jerome Powell, who takes a cautious stance on interest rate cuts.
