“The Wisest Investment” Spending 9 Trillion This Way… The Astonishing Donation Method of the ‘World’s 10th Richest Person’

Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of the American computer manufacturing company Dell Technologies, and his wife Susan Dell have announced a donation of $62.5 billion (approximately 9.2 trillion KRW) to support seed money for financial investment accounts for children under 10 in the United States.

On December 2 (local time), the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation revealed that this donation would be used to support the so-called “Trump Account” program established under the Donald Trump administration. This initiative aims to provide each of the 25 million children under 10 years old who were born before last year with an investment of $250.

In a statement, the Dell couple mentioned, “Throughout our years supporting education, healthcare, and financial stability programs, we’ve seen that this initiative will offer young Americans more than just a savings account.” They added that the account will provide “momentum, confidence, and opportunity.”

Previously, the U.S. Congress, as part of the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” led by President Trump, passed legislation to open tax-deferred investment accounts (Trump Accounts) for newborns born between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2028, with a $1,000 contribution from the U.S. government.

Dell’s donation will offer initial investment support to children under 10 who were born before January 1, 2025, and thus were excluded from the Trump Account’s seed money support. The donation serves to expand the Trump Account program through private contributions.

President Donald Trump invited the Dell couple to the White House for an event announcing their donation. Trump described their commitment as “one of the largest private donations in American history.”

He also stated, “This gift targets ZIP code areas with a median income below $150,000, and is given to children not born into wealth, with the hope that they will become affluent someday.”

Dell CEO Michael Dell expressed, “We believe the wisest investment is in children. I’ve been in discussions with several wealthy American philanthropists and am confident others will join us.”

According to Forbes, Michael Dell’s estimated net worth is around $149 billion (approximately 219 trillion KRW), making him the 10th wealthiest individual globally.
