The Israeli military confirmed the death of Hashem Safieddine, who was considered a leading candidate to succeed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli attack on July 31.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated, “It has been confirmed that Hezbollah commanders, including Hashem Safieddine, Chairman of the Hezbollah Executive Council, were killed during an airstrike on southern Beirut earlier this month,” and explained, “Safieddine is the successor to the late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.”
