The integration of AI features in iPhones is being accelerated… Apple releases a version equipped with ChatGPT.

Apple has launched a feature that integrates the AI model ChatGPT into its devices such as the iPhone. The company announced on the 11th local time that it will distribute a software update version that includes the integration of ChatGPT with its voice assistant, Siri, to iPhones, iPads, and Macs. This comes six months after first announcing the ChatGPT integration at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

The integration of ChatGPT is one of the core functions of Apple’s AI system, “Apple Intelligence.” While Apple released some features of Apple Intelligence last October, the launch of the ChatGPT integration indicates that Apple devices, including the iPhone, are seriously embracing AI, according to evaluations.

ChatGPT is the most widely used AI model globally, with 250 million weekly active users. With its integration into Siri, the voice assistant has become smarter, capable of using ChatGPT to answer complex questions or problems. If Siri determines that ChatGPT’s response is more suitable for a specific user question, it presents the answer through ChatGPT with the user’s permission.

This integrated feature is based on OpenAI’s latest AI model, GPT-4o. To achieve this, Apple formed a partnership with OpenAI last May. Apple has also indicated that it could integrate other AI models, such as Google’s Gemini, with Apple Intelligence.

Additionally, the distributed software includes features that allow users to create new emojis and automatically generate images to match the text or specific requirements input by users. There is also a function that lets users change the tone of selected text or make sentences more concise.

Apple explained that it plans to add updated functions next year, allowing Siri to perform tasks within specific apps according to user instructions, such as sending messages to friends or changing music playback modes.

According to U.S. economic media outlet CNBC, “Many investors expect that with the addition of Apple Intelligence’s functions, iPhone sales will increase, upgrade cycles will accelerate, and Apple will eventually position itself as a leader in the consumer-centric AI field.”

Reflecting this, Apple’s stock has been showing a steady upward trend recently. On the day at 1:18 PM Eastern Time (10:18 AM Pacific Time), Apple’s stock traded at $249.10, up 0.54% from the previous day on the New York Stock Exchange. It also touched $250 for the first time during the trading session.

Since the closing price of $225.66 at the end of October, the stock price has been quietly trending upward for over a month without significant fluctuations.

As a result, Apple’s market capitalization has grown to $3.765 trillion, widening the gap with the second-ranked NVIDIA ($3.399 trillion), and it is approaching $4 trillion for the first time.
