The government imposes independent sanctions on 11 individuals, including North Korean generals, related to the deployment to the Ukraine war.

The government has designated 11 individuals, including three high-ranking North Korean generals deployed to Russia, as targets for independent sanctions against North Korea.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (17th) that these additional sanctions are being imposed as part of a coordinated response to North Korea-Russia military cooperation.

Among those sanctioned are Kim Young-bok, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Korean People’s Army, Shin Gum-chul, Operations Director of the General Staff, and Ri Bong-chun, Commander of the Storm Corps.

Additionally, eight individuals involved in illegal North Korea-Russia military cooperation and the procurement of funds and materials for North Korea’s nuclear missiles, as well as 15 entities including the Storm Corps deployed to the Ukraine war, have been designated as targets of independent sanctions.
