[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Ryu Hyun-joo = Elon Musk’s space company, SpaceX, failed the 8th test flight of the large spacecraft “Starship,” which was developed with the goal of exploring the moon and Mars.
SpaceX conducted the 8th test flight on the 6th (local time) at the Starbase in Bocachica, Texas, USA.
Approximately three minutes after launch, the Starship’s first-stage rocket booster and second-stage spacecraft separated. The first-stage booster successfully landed between the chopstick-like robot arms on the launch tower, but the second-stage spacecraft lost communication while continuing its orbital flight, resulting in a test flight failure.
Previously, SpaceX conducted the 7th test flight of Starship on January 16, but the spacecraft exploded in mid-air about 8 minutes and 30 seconds after launch, resulting in failure.
