“Russia ‘Intercepts 32 Drones Attempting to Attack Moscow'”

“Attempted Drone Attack by Ukraine”

On the 10th/local time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that 32 drones targeting Russia’s capital, Moscow, were shot down. According to Reuters, this is considered the largest attempted Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow since Russia’s “special military operation” in Ukraine began in February 2022.

Mayor Sobyanin stated on Telegram that 32 drones flying toward Moscow had been shot down. He said drones were downed in areas such as Ramenskoye, Kolomensky, Domodedovo, and Kolomna, and that emergency response teams had been dispatched to the sites.

Reuters reported that Ramenskoye, located 45 kilometers from the Kremlin, the office of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was also targeted in a large-scale attack on Moscow on September 20, where 20 drones were shot down.

Russia’s aviation authority announced on Telegram that operations at Domodedovo and Zhukovo airports would be temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of civilian flights. Subsequently, temporary restrictions were also implemented at Sheremetyevo Airport.

In addition to the drone attack on Moscow, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a total of 23 drones were shot down in the regions of Bryansk, Rostov, Belgorod, and Kursk.
