Russia has stated that if South Korea decides to send troops to North Korea, it will respond harshly if it perceives any threat to its security.

Russia has issued a warning to the South Korean government, which is considering a response to North Korea’s troop dispatch, stating that it will “harshly counter any actions that could threaten the security of the country and its people.”

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, made this statement during a briefing on the 23rd local time, adding that “the measures could be visible” and expressing hope that the South Korean authorities would act with caution and common sense.

She further emphasized that “South Korea should consider the potential consequences for its security if it participates in the Ukraine conflict.”

Regarding reports of North Korean troop deployment, Spokesperson Zakharova dismissed them as “false and exaggerated information,” and avoided giving a direct answer by saying, “Ask Pyongyang about the positioning of North Korean troops.”

She also noted that Ukraine has requested lethal weapons from South Korea and argued that military cooperation between Russia and North Korea does not harm South Korea in any way.
