. The interview with President Joe Biden conducted by a radio host is causing controversy as the host revealed that a list of questions was sent in advance by White House aides. The interview took place in an effort to dispel concerns raised by controversies such as the ‘cognitive ability debate’ that arose after the first TV debate on the 27th of last month. The host of ‘The Source,’ a popular radio program among African Americans in Philadelphia, Andrea Roqu-Sanders, stated during an interview with CNN on the 6th that, “Before interviewing President Biden on the 4th, White House aides sent a list of 8 questions, and I decided to ask 4 of them.” This radio program was conducted with the purpose of reassuring voters after health issues were raised following the presidential debate. However, during the interview, Biden made controversial remarks by saying that he is proud to think of himself as the first ‘black woman’ to serve alongside the ‘black President’ (Barack Obama) for the United States.
As this information became known, Biden’s side explained, “The questions were not sent from the White House, but from the presidential campaign side,” and clarified, “Sending questions with conditions for accepting the interview was not the case.” The New York Times (NYT) criticized the fact that “no one has ever publicly acknowledged providing questions in advance” and pointed out that “providing questions in advance is a practice that is considered inappropriate when covering politicians.”
