OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, is reportedly developing its own social media platform. This move positions them in direct competition with Elon Musk’s X, with whom they’ve been having a competitive standoff in the artificial intelligence (AI) market.
According to CNBC on the 15th (local time), OpenAI is in the early stages of constructing a social network similar to X. There is an internal prototype focused on image creation with a ChatGPT social feed, and CEO Sam Altman has reportedly sought feedback on the project from individuals outside the company privately.
It is unclear whether OpenAI will release a separate app or integrate this into the existing ChatGPT app.
Foreign media have noted that this decision may further fuel the intense rivalry between Altman and Musk. The two sides have been in a tense standoff, even engaging in a legal battle over OpenAI’s commercialization issues. Previously, Musk proposed acquiring OpenAI for $97.4 billion, which led to Altman publicly denouncing the offer, escalating the dispute.
