Musk: “Korea’s ‘population collapse’, two-thirds will disappear” … Criticizes ‘birth rate’ again

“Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has once again commented on South Korea’s low birth rate. On the 27th (local time), Musk posted on his official social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), stating, ‘Two-thirds of South Korea’s population will disappear every generation,’ referring to this as a ‘Population collapse.’ He shared an image of a graph based on World Bank data, illustrating that due to low wages and long working hours, South Korea’s total fertility rate could drop to as low as 0.68 this year.

Last month, at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Musk also mentioned South Korea’s birth rate of ‘0.72’ from last year. He stated, ‘Based on the current birth rate, South Korea’s population will become less than a third of its current size.’ He added, ‘In the short term, artificial intelligence (AI) is the greatest threat, but in the long term, it is the collapse of the world population. If people cannot reproduce, humanity will cease to exist, rendering all other policies meaningless.’

In 2022, Musk cited an article from the Wall Street Journal, noting that ‘Korea is experiencing the fastest population collapse in the world, alongside Hong Kong.’

It is known that Musk has multiple spouses and 11 children.”
