Hezbollah’s First Official Stance Post-Ceasefire with Israel: “Resistance Continues”

“Will continue supporting Palestine”
“Monitoring Israel with finger on the trigger”
Israel continues attacks on Gaza
, ‘[Reported by Edaely Lee So-hyun] The pro-Iranian armed faction Hezbollah in Lebanon announced their first official stance since the temporary ceasefire with Israel, stating that they will continue their resistance and support for Palestine.’,

On the 27th (local time), according to Reuters, Hezbollah issued a statement the evening after the ceasefire agreement was announced, confirming that “the operations command of the Islamic resistance is fully prepared so that all military sectors and members can counter the ambitions and attacks of the Israeli enemy.”

Hezbollah operatives noted that they would continue to monitor the withdrawal of Israeli forces across the Lebanese border “with their finger on the trigger.”

Furthermore, Hezbollah reiterated their commitment to supporting “the oppressed and suffering people in Palestine.”

In their statement, Hezbollah did not directly address the ceasefire negotiations.

Following Lebanon’s acceptance of the ceasefire agreement, which both Hezbollah and Israel also agreed to, a 60-day ceasefire began at 4 AM on the 27th. This came approximately 13 months after Hezbollah and Israel began clashes following a surprise attack on Israel by Hamas in October the previous year, marking two months since Israel launched the “Operation Northern Arrow” ground operations in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah.

Although the ceasefire stopped gunfire in the Lebanese region, Israel continued airstrikes on dozens of locations in Gaza.

Overnight, the Israeli military launched an airstrike on Al-Tabaine School in Gaza City, which has been used as a shelter for refugees. The Palestinian authorities reported that 13 people, including six women, were killed in the attack.

The Israeli military stated that the operation targeted Mu’min al-Jabari, a sniper for the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, who had been operating from the school and stockpiling weapons there.

Additionally, the Israeli military reported airstrikes on Hamas’s weapon storage facilities in northern Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 33 people were killed and 134 were injured in Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours.

The international community emphasized the need for the Middle East to move towards peace, using the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah as a stepping stone.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the ceasefire as “the first glimmer of hope” amid months of ongoing Middle Eastern conflict.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II urged for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as well.
