With only about 100 days left until the U.S. presidential election, there is a prevailing sense of urgency within the Democratic Party that leaves no time for hesitation.
Vice President Harris is being mentioned as the most likely candidate to replace Biden. Reporter Im Se-hee analyzed the unprecedented scenario of changing the presidential candidate.

President Biden, who had to suspend his campaign due to contracting COVID-19, is shown struggling to climb the stairs of the plane. He is currently in isolation at his home in Delaware.
Watching Trump hold a grand convention in a crucial election battleground, Biden may feel impatient and overwhelmed by calls for him to withdraw as a candidate. U.S. media predict that Biden may resign as early as this weekend, possibly indicating who he would support as his successor.
The Democratic Party’s official nominee will be decided at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago starting on August 19th, where nearly 4,000 delegates will vote until a majority is reached. If there is a lack of consensus or chaotic debates among the candidates, the party may face confusion.
Kamala Harris, the current Vice President, is the most commonly mentioned as the new Democratic candidate. Other names like Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of Michigan, and Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, have been mentioned, as well as Michelle Obama, the highly popular wife of former President Obama, although the feasibility seems unlikely.

The focus of the U.S. political scene is on Vice President Harris, who has the potential to expand the Democratic base as the first female Vice President with Black and Asian heritage. Despite inheriting over $200 million in campaign funds, there are no legal issues.
Recently, in opinion polls, 79% of Democratic supporters stated that they would support Vice President Harris if President Biden resigns.
