In last year’s U.S. presidential election, former President Joe Biden, who chose not to run for re-election, reportedly failed to recognize top star George Clooney, whom he has known for 15 years, according to the internet outlet Axios.
In the book “Original Sin,” written by Axios’s Alex Thompson and CNN’s Jake Tapper, who interviewed over 200 people about Biden’s last two years in office, it is revealed that Biden did not recognize Clooney.
The authors claim that before a fundraising event in June of the previous year, Clooney greeted Biden, but it was clear that Biden did not recognize him at the time.
Additionally, during a Kennedy Center Medal ceremony at the White House in December 2022, Biden shook hands with Clooney but failed to recognize him despite reuniting after a year and a half.
The following month, in July of last year, Clooney wrote an op-ed in The New York Times urging Biden to forgo a re-election bid.
It is reported that this played a significant role in Biden’s decision to drop his candidacy and support then-Vice President Kamala Harris as the new candidate.
The authors investigate the likelihood that Biden’s aides and the media were aware of his health and cognitive issues, although the public did not learn of this until the end of June during a televised candidates debate.
