Axios reports that the Trump administration secretly discussed a 28-point plan with Russia to end the Ukraine war.

“U.S. online media outlet Axios reported on the 18th (local time) that the Donald Trump administration is secretly discussing a new peace initiative with Russia to end the war in Ukraine.”

“According to Axios, the initiative comprises a total of 28 items across four categories: a Ukrainian peace system, security guarantees, European security, and the future relationship between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine.”

“Axios reported that Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s special envoy, has been extensively consulting with Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special envoy for overseas investment and economic cooperation, regarding this initiative.”

“The two reportedly had a focused discussion on the peace plan during meetings held in Miami, Florida, from the 24th to the 26th of last month.”

“In this regard, Dmitriev told Axios, ‘This time, Russia’s stance is genuinely being reflected.'”

“Axios conveyed that the significance of this initiative is to propose resolutions for the conflict in Ukraine and to restore U.S.-Russia ties while addressing Russia’s security concerns, under the principles agreed upon by the U.S. and Russian leaders when they met in Alaska in August.”

“It has been reported that the U.S. is currently briefing Ukraine and other European countries on this plan.”

“Ukraine’s response or stance on this matter has not been disclosed.”

“An Ukrainian official stated that Witkoff, during talks with Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov earlier this week in Miami, engaged in discussions regarding the peace initiative being considered with Russia.”

“The official only told Axios, ‘We know the Americans are working on something,’ but avoided further specifics.”
