“SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus have jointly launched the ‘PASS Electronic Notification Service’ based on the ‘PASS’ app platform, which provides key notification documents from public and financial institutions,” they announced on the 18th.
The PASS app, used by approximately 38 million individuals in Korea, is a leading personal identification and authentication platform that offers secure electronic signatures based on the PASS certificate recognized by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). The three telecom companies see this notification service as an opportunity to develop the PASS app into an ‘essential platform in everyday life for the public.’
To enhance user convenience, a screen has been applied that allows direct access to the electronic notification menu from the main app screen.
The electronic notification list screen guides users to easily check the reading deadline of each document at a glance.
Additional alerts are sent to users who have not read the sent electronic notifications to ensure they do not miss important announcements.
Given the nature of the app providing identity verification and authentication services, it is expected to increase the rate of electronic notification views since many users keep informational push notifications ‘ON’ at all times. In fact, the view rate for essential notification documents in the PASS-based ‘National Secretary’ service is about 55%.
A telecom company representative stated, “Through the launch of the PASS electronic notification, we have established a foundation for PASS to play an important role in public digital administration. We will support public institutions to communicate with citizens more quickly and safely by enhancing notification channels linked to official notification messages and PASS electronic notifications.”
