The Ministry of Science and ICT’s Central Radio Management Office will hold an explanatory session on the prohibition of false phone number display for over 1,160 telecommunication and text message service providers at the SETEC Convention Center on the 11th.
The Central Radio Management Office annually inspects and analyzes violations related to the prohibition of false phone number display among telecommunication and text message service providers and holds explanatory sessions to share major violations to prevent recurrence.
This year, due to the increase in public damage from voice phishing and illegal spam, the session will focus on major violation cases.
Key topics include the prohibition of false phone number display and major violations (by the Korea Internet & Security Agency), voice phishing cases (by the Gangwon Police Agency), and countermeasures against voice phishing in telecommunications (by the Korea Internet & Security Agency).
Kim Jung-sam, the head of the Central Radio Management Office, stated, “Active cooperation from telecommunication and text message service providers is necessary to prevent the abuse of telecommunication services as a means of crime, such as voice phishing, and to protect the public safely from crime. We will continue to make the utmost efforts to provide a safer communication environment for the public.”
