The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 5th that it will expand the specialized committees under the National Science and Technology Advisory Council to enhance expertise in the government’s research and development (R&D) budget review process.

The existing ICT and convergence specialized committees will be subdivided into committees such as the Artificial Intelligence and ICT Committee, and the Quantum and Semiconductor Committee. This will increase the number of specialized committees from 8 to 11 and expand the number of experts from 131 to 165.

On this day, the Ministry of Science and ICT, led by Ryu Gwang-jun, head of the Science and Technology Innovation Division, will hold a workshop for the specialized committee under the operational committee of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council’s review meeting, where appointment letters will be presented to the experts. The term for the experts is two years.

Ryu, the head of the Science and Technology Innovation Division, stated, “Like Deep Seek, Korea can also drive technological innovation against big tech at any time. It is a crucial time for R&D investments in national strategic areas to facilitate innovation, so please demonstrate expertise and gather wisdom to focus on and select the necessary areas.”
