SOOP (formerly AfreecaTV) announced on the 2nd that it would host the global Valorant tournament ‘SVL (SOOP VALORANT LEAGUE) 2024’ from the 10th to the 15th.
‘SVL 2024’ is an esports league featuring the first-person tactical shooting game (FPS) ‘Valorant’ by Riot Games, and will be held over six days at the ‘Sangam SOOP Coliseum’ in Seoul.
The tournament will feature a total of eight teams, including popular teams participating in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), a top-level Valorant esports event. Participating teams include DRX and Gen.G (GEN) from Korea, Sentinels (SEN) and NRG from the Americas, Bilibili Gaming (BLG) from China, and Talon Esports (TLN) from Thailand. MITH and Rapid Lofi (RLF) also joined through qualifiers in Thailand and Vietnam.
The total prize money is $80,000 (approximately 110 million KRW), with the winning team receiving $25,000 (approximately 35 million KRW).
SOOP plans to broadcast the tournament on various platforms and in different languages. The domestic and global live streaming platform ‘SOOP’ will provide broadcasts in Korean and English, as well as Thai, while Vietnamese broadcasts will be aired through the ‘ON Live’ channel.
