Son Heung-min and Faker might meet… T1 players attend a Tottenham match after winning the ‘LoL World Championship’.

The “defending champion” T1 from the League of Legends (LoL) esports has once again reached the pinnacle of the world stage, continuing their success from last year. The victorious T1 players are set to watch a Premier League Tottenham match in person.

Keria, also known as Ryu Min-seok, mentioned in an interview at the O2 Arena in London, UK, on November 2nd, 2024, that he had always wanted to visit a football stadium while in London and expressed his excitement about the opportunity to attend a Tottenham game, thanks to an invitation.

The match the T1 players are expected to watch is set to be against Aston Villa on November 3rd. There is also interest in whether a meeting between T1 players and Son Heung-min will take place.

Son Heung-min, who has often expressed admiration for Faker, congratulated T1 players on their World Championship victory by posting their picture with the caption “proud” on social media.

Faker, also known as Lee Sang-hyeok, has a connection with Son Heung-min as they previously appeared together in a commercial.

The T1 team, which plays in the domestic League of Legends league LCK, defeated the Chinese team Bilibili Gaming with a set score of 3:2 to claim the championship at the 2024 World Championship finals. This victory marks the first “V5” achievement in the history of the World Championship for T1.

Faker Lee Sang-hyeok, who was also named the MVP of the final match, set a remarkable record of winning the World Championship five times. Since the first tournament in 2011, this is the first instance of a team winning the World Championship twice with the same starting lineup (Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, Keria).

T1, representing the LoL Korean league LCK, started their streak of victories with their first World Championship win in 2013 during their “SK Telecom T1” days. They achieved a record of two consecutive international victories in 2015 and 2016. Even after renaming the team to T1, they claimed the top spot again at the 2023 World Championship held in Seoul.

Faker Lee Sang-hyeok commented, “I think a lot of it comes down to acting instinctively when the opportunity arises during crucial moments,” and added, “I received many decisive moments, which made it more apparent.”

As for the highlight of today’s match, he mentioned, “In the fourth set, I initiated a fight with Sylas, and it turned out well, with good support from my teammates.”
