NHN Cloud: “This year, we are handling 5 out of the 7 public cloud native transition projects.”

NHN Cloud announced on the 10th that it will provide cloud-native infrastructure to five out of the seven public institutions participating in the ‘Cloud Native Transition Project’ for 2025.

The Cloud Native Transition Project, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, aims to provide stable digital services to the public and enhance response to system failures by transitioning the information systems of public institutions to a cloud-native environment provided by private Cloud Service Providers (CSP).

Following their supply of cloud infrastructure to nine out of 17 public institutions last year, NHN Cloud is set to provide cloud-native infrastructure to the systems of five institutions during this year’s transition: the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Daegu Metropolitan City, the National Geographic Information Institute, and Public Home Shopping.

The systems to be supplied in this project include ‘National Public Transportation Information’ (Korea Transportation Safety Authority), ‘Library Integration’ and ‘Daegu Unified Reservation’ (Daegu Metropolitan City), ‘National Satellite Information’ and ‘Ground Deformation Monitoring’ (National Geographic Information Institute), and ‘Business System’ (Public Home Shopping).

A cloud-native environment is characterized by stability, preventing individual service failures from spreading to the entire system, agility, enabling quick improvements by isolating required functions, and scalability, automatically allocating resources to overburdened functions.

NHN Cloud is executing this project based on its OpenStack-based technology, security, rapid response capabilities, and one-on-one technical support, drawing from its experience in supplying services to numerous public institutions.

Dong-hoon Kim, CEO of NHN Cloud, stated, “We have solidified our position as the No.1 CSP in the public sector, achieving overwhelming results in the cloud-native transition project for public institutions since last year. We plan to actively participate in various public projects, including government-led Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives, contributing to the transition and activation of the domestic cloud market.”
