LG Uplus is collaborating with LG Group to create a ‘world-class AI data center’.

**MWC26: Revealing Core Technologies and Operational Capabilities of Paju AI Data Center**

(Seoul=News1) Reporter Minjoo Lee: LG Uplus (032640) announced on the 24th that at MWC26 (Mobile World Congress 2026), it will unveil a global top-tier AI Data Center (AIDC) strategy based on synergy with the LG Group.

LG Uplus aims to strengthen its position as a key infrastructure provider in the AI era with its ‘Beyond AI-Ready’ AIDC, which encompasses the entire spectrum of power, cooling, and operations, centered around the collective strength of LG affiliates, ‘ONE LG’.

This year at MWC26, it will disclose the latest technologies and next-generation operational strategies that will be applied to the ‘Paju AI Data Center,’ currently under construction in the Seoul metropolitan area and set to be the largest in the region.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, the Paju AIDC will leverage the technological capabilities of LG Uplus, LG Electronics, LG Energy Solution, and other group companies in its core components of operations, cooling, and power systems.

A critical challenge of ADCs, the heat issue, will be addressed through collaboration with LG Electronics (066570).

LG Uplus and LG Electronics are introducing a liquid cooling solution that attaches a dedicated metal plate (Cold Plate) to the GPU chip and circulates liquid through a Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) to directly remove heat (D2C). According to LG Uplus’s demonstrations, this method improves energy efficiency by about 24% compared to traditional air cooling.

The cooling water required for liquid cooling is produced by LG Electronics’ air-cooled ‘Free Cooling Chiller,’ which uses cold outside air to generate cooling water, significantly reducing power consumption to about 10% of the existing level.

For stable power supply, LG Energy Solution (373220) technology is also incorporated. The Paju AIDC will be equipped with high-performance UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) batteries that provide immediate power correction during outages or voltage fluctuations. The batteries are designed with a multi-safety structure from cell to pack to minimize fire and thermal runaway risks, supporting uninterrupted operations.

LG Uplus plans to gradually expand its AI computing infrastructure starting from the Paju AIDC.

To achieve this, they are strengthening an integrated consulting business that involves creating and building data centers, as well as operating them, by developing collaboration models with asset management firms and others.

They are also accelerating the development and application of ‘Immersion’ cooling technology, which involves submerging servers in non-conductive liquid, to more efficiently handle increased heat generated by improved GPU performance.

LG Uplus applies the integrated operational capabilities of group technology across its data centers. They leverage the know-how accumulated over 27 years of operating 15 data centers nationwide for design, construction, and direct management.

LG Uplus is applying its self-developed AI-based DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) system across all data center areas. The DCIM system plays a pivotal role in monitoring power consumption, temperature, humidity, cooling conditions, and equipment abnormalities in real-time and optimizing resource allocation through AI analysis.

At MWC26, attendees can also encounter the ‘Sovereign AI Appliance,’ co-created by LG Uplus, LG AI Research, and FuriosaAI. This solution allows immediate AI application in work by simply connecting power and network, eliminating the complexities of infrastructure setup.

An Hyung-kyun, Managing Director of the AI Business Group at LG Uplus, stated, “Based on the ONE LG synergy, we aim to make the Paju AI Data Center a globally top-level hub,” adding that they will evolve into an AI factory that most stably operates and expands GPUs, under the Beyond AI-Ready strategy built on the foundation of AI-Ready centers.

Meanwhile, MWC is the world’s largest mobile industry exhibition, where global telecommunications, AI, and network companies unveil next-generation communication technologies and digital innovation strategies.
