KT, Korea’s First Export of LLM Platform

KT Provides Thai LLM Model to Jasmine Technology Solutions in Thailand: On the 15th, KT announced the successful completion of its project with Jasmine Technology Solutions (JTS), an IT firm under Thailand’s Jasmine Group, to build a Thai-language large language model (LLM) platform.

KT signed a contract with JTS in March last year to develop a Thai-language LLM platform and worked on the project for over one year. This one-stop project includes creating an LLM operations management environment, ‘LLM Ops’, an AI service infrastructure ‘GPU Farm’, and a dedicated Thai LLM model.

This initiative marked the first time a Korean company established a comprehensive AI infrastructure overseas to enable the development, operation, and expansion environment for generative AI services.

LLM Ops is an environment that manages the entire process of learning, deploying, and operating various LLM models. KT customized this environment for its client, allowing JTS to operate the complex generative AI environment more efficiently and stably.

KT, alongside its cloud subsidiary KT Cloud, established a GPU Farm in Thailand for managing GPU resources. Based on this, JTS plans to supply GPU subscription services (GPUaaS) to Thai companies and institutions, thereby accelerating the expansion of the AI ecosystem in Thailand.

Using its expertise and experience in model development, KT jointly developed a Thai-language dedicated LLM with Upstage, a domestic LLM specialized company. This model supports Thai, English, and Korean, and with its learning of extensive unique Thai data, it can accurately address questions related to Thai politics, history, and culture.

KT had invested in Upstage in 2023 to contribute to the growth of the AI ecosystem in South Korea. This project is significant as it demonstrates a successful global AI business collaboration between a large corporation and a startup.

In the future, KT will continue its partnership with JTS as a technology partner, focusing on ▲enhancing the AI platform ▲expanding and maintaining GPU infrastructure ▲discovering new AI-based services. The two companies also plan to progressively launch AI services targeting the Thai AI market.

Through this project, KT has secured a successful global AI business reference. It plans to leverage this achievement to enhance its AI business capabilities and actively expand its AI business areas beyond the Southeast Asian market to regions like the Middle East and Europe.

Jin-hyung Lee, Head of AI Business Strategy at KT’s Strategic Business Consulting Division, stated, “The development and commercialization of the Thai-specific LLM platform once again proves KT’s AI technology prowess and global business capabilities.” He added, “Based on the experience and know-how gained from this project, KT plans to diversify its service product lineup in AI and cloud services through strategic partnerships with Microsoft and Palantir.”
