KT has improved work efficiency with Microsoft’s ‘Copilot’.

KT has significantly improved its work productivity by utilizing Microsoft’s generative AI cloud service, ‘Copilot’. By centralizing documents, it has systematically managed resources and automated repetitive tasks, enhancing work efficiency. Microsoft is supporting the adoption of generative AI by domestic clients like KT and is seeking growth opportunities.

On the 16th, Microsoft Korea held an online ‘AI Transformation Week’, introducing domestic companies that achieved innovation using Microsoft’s AI solutions. Companies such as KT, Hyundai Glovis, and Sungkyunkwan University shared the effects of adopting Copilot and their AI utilization strategies.

KT centralized documents dispersed across individual PCs and established a management system based on Microsoft’s cloud storage ‘OneDrive’ and document management platform ‘SharePoint’. They also strengthened security with the ‘Azure Information Protection’ solution. The generative AI Copilot helps search, summarize, and create new documents based on learned work documents and efficiently handles tasks like summarizing email threads or organizing schedules.

KT explained that by systematically summarizing complex documents, they improved the comprehension of new employees or those assigned to new projects. Enhanced data analysis and information accessibility have allowed existing documents to serve as practical ‘knowledge assets’. Copilot, initially implemented for 300 employees in 2023, expanded to approximately 1,700 by last August.

In October last year, KT held an internal hackathon event called ‘Cromptone’, where employees shared Copilot and ‘MS 365’ usage cases and competed with ideas. Around 200 people applied, with 20 teams advancing to the finals.

The winning project automated local government proposal strategies, generating reports that propose suitable products based on updated local government projects and work plans. This received high praise for using MS’s ‘Power Automate’ program to collect data and efficiently create proposals in conjunction with Copilot.

Since its launch in April 2023, Copilot has quickly established its presence, adopted by more than 100 major domestic companies in just seven months. Besides KT, companies like LG Uplus and Hyundai Glovis also utilize Copilot. LG Uplus experienced an 85% improvement in employee job satisfaction following its trial introduction, particularly in managing meetings, writing minutes, and handling issues. Hyundai Glovis improved productivity in its logistics sector following Copilot’s adoption.

Microsoft is also showcasing AI agent technology tailored for corporate tasks. These agents search for information or automate tasks, with plans to add more autonomous functions in the future. Microsoft intends to expand its ecosystem by enhancing compatibility with AI agents and Copilot created by global cloud providers through its ‘Agent Marketplace’.

Song Chi-hun, lead of Modern Work Solutions at Microsoft Korea, stated, “Copilot is a tool for improving individual employee productivity, and an agent enhances business processes across the organization, maximizing AI’s value. This can create an efficient and innovative work environment.”
