KISA announced on the 16th that it would recruit companies to participate in the ‘Software (SW) Supply Chain Security Model Construction’ support project until April 9.

The SW Supply Chain Security Model Construction Support Project is a project that supports the establishment of a security system using SBOM to respond to the globally increasing supply chain threats and the enhancement of overseas supply chain security policies. An SBOM, like a food ingredient label, is a specifications document that records details such as open source and libraries of software, and it is considered a crucial element for strengthening supply chain security.

KISA is investing 4 billion won this year into a total of 8 projects, including the ‘Supply Chain Security Management System (6 tasks)’ and ‘Supply Chain Threat Monitoring and Response System (2 tasks)’. This year’s project not only applies to companies that develop and supply SBOM-related security systems but also expands to include companies that implement and operate monitoring systems using SBOM.

For development and supply companies (Supply Chain Security Management System), support is provided up to 300 million won per task, and for implementation and operation companies (Supply Chain Threat Monitoring and Response System), up to 500 million won. In addition to financial support, technical consulting for overall supply chain security management system operation is also provided.

Participating companies can enter individually or in consortium form, and KISA plans to conduct evaluations on participating companies in April and sign agreements with selected participants in May. Support is provided through a mutual investment method, with small businesses responsible for 25% or more of the total project cost, medium-sized companies 30% or more, and large companies 50% or more.

KISA is also scheduled to hold a briefing session on the support project on the 18th. Lee Dong-hwa, team leader of KISA’s AX Supply Chain Security Policy Team, stated, “In addition to the Supply Chain Security Model Construction Support Project, we plan to conduct separate technical service projects this year,” and “we are also preparing a roadmap for strengthening supply chain security in collaboration with the National Intelligence Service and the Ministry of Science and ICT.”
